The kitchen-table pitch assumes acceptance
The 5-sentence plain-English summary in the NRD-lite assumes the landowner accepts the basic premise of verified ecological condition as a commodity. Some landowners will reject the 99-year commitment as a hard no, regardless of how clearly it is explained.
Scenario
The 5-sentence plain-English summary in the NRD-lite assumes the landowner accepts the basic premise of verified ecological condition as a commodity. Some landowners will reject the 99-year commitment as a hard no, regardless of how clearly it is explained.
Mechanism
The 99-year commitment term is a real friction point for landowners with shorter planning horizons or who are uncomfortable with novel legal instruments. Some landowners will not accept the architecture regardless of explanation quality.
Mitigation
Architecture accepts this friction point. Conservation easements (separate, traditional instrument) remain available for landowners who want different structures. Earth Credit methodology could theoretically apply to shorter-term arrangements but permanence claims would be reduced. Landseed should not pressure landowners to accept terms that don't fit their planning horizons.
Residual risk
Not every landowner will be a fit for Earth Credits. This is accepted as a cost of maintaining architectural integrity — the 99-year commitment is inherent to the permanence value of the credits.
